Just a sidenote...I know thisblog seems a little quirky right now but I'm working on it. Because I don't blog often, it seems like it's taking forever to get this thing fixed! Just rest asured though, that it will be fixed soon.

Author and Sorority sister, Keila Adams has taken a leap and along
with her sister, they have authored their first book of poetry. This
book of poetry from a woman's perspective, can actually be quite
interesting for guys to read as well.
When I read the poems and immerse myself in the situations they
describe, I can certainly feel the authors' point of view. This book
speaks some thoughts that maybe go unspoken yet are imbedded in the
mind of some and it also puts into words, the feelings that some of us
guys only wish a woman would think about us!
I had the opportunity to speak with Keila about her inspiration and
motives to write such a vivid and sensual book. The conversation was
what I would come to expect from such a sensual woman!

I must say that this wedding day was one to worry about in the beginning. It rained the entire trip there, which was almost a 2 hour drive, but things began to look up just before ceremony time! Whew!
When I arrived, it would Kimberly whom I came across first. She was just as sweet spirited as the very first time we met and she seemed to know what was to come in the next couple of hours. The time I spent photographing her was definately time well spent and worth the rainy drive because she was one of the most most beautiful brides I had seen. The colors were well chosen and the dress was gorgeous.










Now what about the rain? It stopped! I don't know if it was luck or fate or what, but the rain came to a halt when it was time for the ceremony. It's as if it knew that the wedding would be outdoors and someone just told it to go away for a while!

Guys are usually not as easy to photograph as brides, right? Not this time. Lamont almost seemed as poised in front the camera as any I'd seen. This came as a little surprise to me since i remembered our first session together and it was a little different. What a turn around! I really thinnk it had to do with the fact that this guy was happy on his wedding day! Why wouldn't he be when things were go so perefectly!










When it came time for the reception, things just continued as they had been for the beginning of the day. When we entered the venue, the music was truly the best selections in the state! Congrats guys on an awesome DJ!! He kept the mood just right for the duration of the evening and there was never a dull moment during any portion of the reception. The disco lights were added later in the evening and it just made me want to hit the dance floor!









We closed out the evening with an image that I thought represented the couple as well as the experience I had with them.

For me, arriving in the nation's capitol would be enough reason to take on just about any wedding. The wedding location was just perfect. It was just like being in the countryside of Mississippi, but with all the amenities of a big city just a short drive away.

The view from the Billingsley House was just amazing as it overlooked a winding river and several hills along with a 180 degree view of beautiful landscapes as far as the eye could see. Leading up to the home was a weathered wood fence that added the element of age and history to this beautiful location.

The inside of the home was chock full of original flooring, leather door hinges, and moulding. Wow! I knew before I pressed the shutter one time that the day was to be a photographic candy treat.

Coordinator, friend, and sister; Yasmin was so eloquent in preparing all the details of the big day that it seemed as she had done this countless times before! She was definitely the conductor that orchestrated all the elements of this magnificent arrangement to ensure a successful piece in the end from the caterer, florist, cake, music, decorations, thru the last guest departing for the day.

I would greet Danielle first. Beautiful. Though she was not yet dressed as a bride, she was both beautiful in spirit and as a person. Her confidence showed in her speech, expressions and by the natural way she carried herself throughout the preparation time and throughout the rest of the day.






When Dock and the guys arrived, they were as calm as a pot of water! I knew when I saw them that this would be a piece of cake to photograph this group of guys who appeared not to have a worry in the world.







Now the ceremony would begin. Being a pastor's daughter would make this ceremony more spiritual than some and I couldn't be more proud to hear the vows and sermon from this wedding. I really could use any spiritual words I could get my ears to absorb at this point!







As we wrapped up the day, I was able to create portraits of Danielle + Dock with the grand vistas that the area had to offer as well as take them away from all the action and excitement so they would have some time alone. This time alone would prove to be some of more intimate times since they were able to let their guards down and simply be themselves for a moment.

This week's wedding was the opportunity for me to channel my mind to a different focus other than the woman I spent the past 2 1/2 years of my life with. Her funeral was today, yet I'm in MD photographing a wedding. Is that selfish of me? Should i feel guilty? Many emotions take hold of me right now as I get through the toughest ordeal that I've ever been faced with. I made it through Hurricane Katrina, kidney stones for the 5th time just a couple of weeks ago, and even being blamed for my own house fire!

Arnita was such a sweet spirited person. She was responsible for making me a better person in many ways and she's not here for me to let her know.

I haven't spoken about my ordeal much since it began 2 short months ago because it's something one can never prepare for nor be prepared to deal with. I carry her with me everywhere I go and I will try to exemplify what she has taught me to be.

I really hope she is able to read my mind and see my thoughts where she is. I hope she sees how much she is truly missed and I pray for all the comfort that God can bring to her family.
