I figured I'd include a few images from our recent Holiday Portraits because I'm just so excited about our new set this year!

Again, I have limited availability during this Holiday season, but I will be creating portraits and Holiday Cards for the next couple of weeks with guaranteed delivery for Christmas.

This season has already proven to be one great start for Holiday Portraits especially since I haven't offered quite the same type of photography in years past.

And yep, you guessed it...I photograph pets too!

Wow! Was I the only one out this morning catching all the great deals? It amazes me how many people actually are out shopping in the wee hours of the morning, but I guess I'm one of those people that I wonder about! :) While I was at my local WM, it seemed as if it were more of a going out of business sale rather than Black Friday. There were just so many people and even better than that was the assortment of great deals!

I almost thought I saw a misprint when I looked at the price of a Blu Ray Player...$128!! Since I was one of those that bought into the HD DVD a year ago only to find out that the HD won't be made anymore I just HAD to get my hands on the Blu Ray. I also found the 500 gig hard drive to be among some of my "best buys" this season. Oh, and how could I leave out the 8 gig flash drives! ...awsome prices on this stuff!

And of course I had my trusty camera phone there with me to document all the excitement.

Once again, so many things and events all at during this time of year! Fall means FOOTBALL and today is the day of JSU's Homecoming parade and football game.

I have always been a HUGE music nut for as long as I can remember and nothing's changed. I was on the parade route armed with my camera of course, and a crowd of other onlookers. Of course the finale was when "The Boom" passed by as we all anxiously awaited their signature song "Get Ready".

Homecoming always seems to bring back memories and long lost friends. It's amazing how I managed to bump heads with people whom I haven't seen in over ten years in, what I thought, was an unpopular location. How coincidental is it that I could see so many familiar faces of all the people that were there?

Now just a couple more hours until MVSU kicks off against JSU.

12:07 PM

It's that time of year already and there are no decorations up, no scary music, and no fog on my street.

For some reason, I just didn't feel like Halloween. I kind of feel like this picture I found on Yahoo this year when I think of Halloween. Maybe it has something to do with the lack of trick-or-treaters in my neighborhood last year. From what I understand, the church had something going on so all the neighborhood kids went to the church function rather than the traditional door to door.

I remember what it was like when I was growing up. My brothers and I would canvas the neighborhood in our favorite super hero costumes and walk until we were too tired or until our bags could no longer hold anymore candy!

Anyhow, I decided not to waste money on candy this year or waste time with any fancy decor. I'll probably carve a pumpkin or two and have dessert before retiring for the night.

And in case I didn't mention it already - no Halloween portraits either. Sorry, maybe next year.

Does anyone have a realistic idea of just how much a wedding costs? Of course this figure will vary by locale and different needs and wants but I have discovered a tool that I find very useful in getting some concrete costs. This, along with the "sunset" tool are just another tool I have included on my site to help you prepare for the big day.

If you have visited my site and browsed thoroughly, you will find that it's jam packed with info to help you make an educated decision on one of the biggest days of your life. I sincerely hope that the tools and information provided help you in your decision making.

Click on the link to the right and answer a few quick questions and you will be amazed at what you will find!

Can you believe it's that time of year already? It's evident everywhere you go if you're in the malls and other shopping venues. Heck, it's just as evident in your own home mailbox! This is now the time to start thinking about Holiday Portraits and gifts.

We have done a search on what we find to be some "HOT" backgrounds this holiday season and hope you will love them just as much as we do. Just like our albums and frames, you will have the luxury of choosing which background is best for you and your family. Keep in mind that Holiday Portraits aren't just for the kids. Just imagine our style of photography paired with your outfits that compliment each other. We make for a perfect match! I look forward to hearing from you soon as it obviously takes time to have your portraits in by Christmas. We will be photographing on a limited time only basis and only on certain days of the week, so let's all get ready for a wonderful Holiday Portrait season!

You can begin looking for portrait samples as well as special holiday pricing soon.

Wow, what a week this has been! From the presidential election to falling gas prices to toying with new software, it's been quite a week for us here. We're wrapping up yet another week as we look forward to the holiday season, but not before I present my most recent album design.

I owe my latest design to the happy couple I finally met in person, less than a week ago. Once again, congrats and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day.

This album was exciting, yet difficult to create since there were so many images to select from!! I had to try to fit as many as I could without making the album a confusing collage of mess.

Feel free to share your thoughts on the images and album design from this past week's wedding.

As a note to all potential brides, keep in mind just how quickly this design was completed and online! This is what you can look forward to experiencing with NYT Photography!

View the album by clicking here.

As promised, here is a short video for you to enjoy from last week's wedding.

For a longer and more elaborate video, you will have to know the bride and groom and ask to see their copy! :)

9:47 AM

What an awesome couple! It's amazing how people can be so happy together and how that happiness is felt and spread across the room.

In working with brides for over 10 years now, I am still always delighted to have the opportunity to work with such interesting couples. This was another of those situations where I have not had the opportunity to meet or even see a picture of the wonderful couple until the actual wedding day. It seems that this type of arrangement is not as uncommon as one may think!

When I arrived and saw Apryl, it was as if our conversation picked right up from where we left off over the phone just a few days prior. She was poised, confident, and prepared to be a bride! It was so easy to photograph her since it seemed as if she had done this sort of thing before (modeling).

The wedding was held at the New Orleans Museum of Art and my hats go off to the team that was responsible for making this evening a success. It was as beautiful as I have seen in any ceremony before.

Congrats to the newlyweds and stay tuned for the SlideShow and album coming soon!

I was just kinda sitting around and kicking some ideas around that would hopefully spark the interest of some of my faithful clients and came up with something I think you will enjoy. If you're anything like me, I'm sure you belong to at least one of those online communities to keep up with your old buddies from school or work or maybe you're there to meet new people. Whatever the reason that impels you to visit these sites, wouldn't it be great if you could share your wedding or portrait slideshow with them?

I have been able to get codes to place your slideshows on all the popular sites such as MySpace, FaceBook, Tagged, My Yearbook, BlackPlanet, and FanBox.

Now Imagine that. You now have the ability to post your favorite portraits as videos on your own online profile pages! Be sure to ask for your very own code so you can get your sideshows posted.

I don't know how many of you have been keeping up with the most recent hurricane news, but so far this year, it doesn't look to be a peaceful time in the Gulf. New Orleans (and my family) has been impacted once again by a major storm as well as the Houston area (and more of my family) and other areas around the gulf coast. Gas prices are up and there's frustration among the entire country since hurricanes affect us all no matter where we live.

As I sit and watch the weather reports about stats and damage, it gets kind of depressing all over again so what better way to lift anyone's spirit than to have a portrait taken? If you've watched the news stories on TV, you hear all the stories about how one person after another has gone in the midst of a severe storm, to retrieve their precious photos. Why, of all things you could save, does one instinctively go after their photos? It's because that's where all the memories are! Our photos truly represent a place in time where we once were. They represent happy times forever etched in our minds and are a constant reminder of all our loved ones, living, and those who have since left us.

Well what better way to get past an otherwise gloomy ordeal? Create more of the memories mentioned in the previous paragraph! Here are just a few "quick and dirty" pics that I shot really quickly to bring even a little happiness to an otherwise, dismal time.

8:19 AM

Now here's another video that only took about 4 minutes to create!

10:51 AM

Here I am up at almost 2 in the morning and home alone when I decided to post again. I am soo happy that when I sat at my computer, I had an email that came through from an old friend. It has been months since we spoke and I really think all things happen for a reason so there must have been a reson we spoke tonight!

During the course of the conversation I actually learned a thing or two about myself and how and why things happen. Isn't it great to be surrounded by people with whom you can really count on trust and talk to?

Well before my phone conversation, I was surfing around when I stumbled upon something that I think you will enjoy! It's one of the coolest things I've stumbled upon in a while so I wanted to post and share it here. It's a really neat video. Let me know what you think!

1:42 AM

Strength. That's what I call my latest self portrait. While I had some downtime and thoughts running through my head, I wondered what could I do to really create a unique image of myself.

Water filled my head as the ideas ran through an already busy mind. All I could think about was water! OK, so that was the first part. I knew I wanted to create a portrait in or around water, but what other ingredients did I need to create my portrait as had envisioned it? I would need the perfect lighting recipe and the perfect time of day.

As I drove around a couple of water spots, I was able to find the perfect location! I was armed with 3 lights - the sun and the two lights I brought along with me. It was late in the evening - around 8:05 or so when I found a suitable location and was ready to shoot.

I forgot to mention that along with the perfect location and lighting recipe, I would also need the perfect outfit! Well I brought 2 with me so hopefully I was prepared.

As it turned out, I decided to go extremely simple with clothing and lighting. I only used 2 lights - the sun and 1 that I brought with me and my underclothes. LOL!!

I began shooting and when I got home, I was truly amazed at the results. With very little computer work(with the exception of the glowing light in my hand), I was able to capture just what I was after.

Here's the finished image

11:24 AM

I was really amazed this morning when I read something online. As it turns out, I love to read articles online to get my day started since it keeps me up to speed and teaches me things that I would not have, otherwise known.

The article I read this morning was nothing short of amazing when you look at some of these actors. I've seen most of these movies and would not have guessed in a million years who some of the actors were! To gain or lose in excess of 60 pounds to play a part in a film takes a lot of willpower and determination if you asked me. I wouldn't know how to do either!! (Trust me, I've been trying to gain for years!) It's a lot harder than most people would tend to think and I commend the folks that have the ability to transform themselves(even if it is only temporary) in this way.

You absolutely have to read this article on actor transformations

I suppose this entry will be understood by most ladies but not many guys( since guys don't typically take bubble baths or at least none that I know) Believe it or not I don't normally take them either, but hey, she asked so you know how that goes.

You will never believe the stupid mistake we (Arnita and I) made when we attempted to use the conair bath spa for the first time.

Little did I know as I ran the bath water, she had poured in some bubble bath. I left the bathroom for only a minute when...

I couldn't believe what I was seeing!! In only a few minutes time, we had created Mount Bubble! Yikes!! This had to have been one one the funniest things I have seen in a long time especially since it seems like things like this only happen on TV. I trashed that myth :) The bubble pile was literally about 4 ft tall! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw how many bubbles had formed in such a short period of time!

Here I am beating the bubbles to death to keep them from overflowing onto the floor!

The lesson learned here is: Don't use any type of bubble bath with a bath spa!!

11:30 AM

Don't you just love those folks that set up on the side of the road to sell their goods and services? I know most of you have at least stopped and checked them out :) Well I was out and about today when I decided to stop at one of these vendors just to see what it was really about. It reminds me of a flea market, sort of. now this particular vendor is always in the same place, on the same street, but I guess it's much like a tree or landmark to me. You already know he's going to be there, so you can actually give good directions by using this guy as a landmark!

When I got out of the car, I was greeted by a guy that seemed to be in good spirit considering the heat today. He offered area rugs, beds in a bag, bath rugs and accessories, and a few other odd items. Believe it or not, I was quit surprised at the merchandise! It was priced to move although I'm not sure of the quality, but boy did the prices seem attractive in today's economy.

And yep, in the background you can see traces of the last severe storm that hit the Jackson area by the light pole that's barely hanging on!

3:13 PM

So you thought the celebration was over? Well we're continuing on through today as we prepare our post Independence Day meal! It's 12 in the afternoon and the grill is hot and the seasoned corn and potatoes are on the stove. Now Rocky is a little bit on the hungry side himself so maybe I'll treat him with a bone or two a little later, but for now it's me and the grill baby! I think you may even notice Rock's X Large water bowl too. He gets so excited that he can't have a "typical" dog bowl so Greg bought him a TUB. It hasn't been knocked over or eaten since Rocky had it! I hope everyone had a good holiday Friday and are doing well. Here are just a few images of how we're coming so far.
